Resveratrol Protects the Liver
Liver function is decreased in people who have a fatty liver. Fatty liver will usually occur in persons who suffer from alcoholism as well as obesity. Researchers at the University of South Florida have determined that two proteins, SIRT1 and AMPK, protected against fat accumulation in the liver of mice. The researchers believed that SIRT1 and AMPK remove fat from the liver. When resveratrol supplements were administered to the mice the activity of SIRT1 and AMPK was increased with an acceleration of fat removal from the liver.
