Bladder Cancer and Selenium
Low selenium levels were associated with a higher risk of urinary bladder cancer in women. A group of 857 people who were diagnosed with bladder cancer were compared to 1191 people without cancer. The research group at Dartmouth Medical School, New Hampshire concluded that low selenium levels in the body increased the risk of bladder cancer in women by 34% and in moderate smokers by 39%.
