What is the A.R.T. Lifestyle Plan?

Wellness and longevity are high priority goals for many women and men today.  Not only are we living longer but many of us are able to avoid serious illness in our senior years by understanding a few basic principles of living.

Predictions from the science world have stated that if an individual is able to live in wellness for another 20 to 25 years by then medical and scientific breakthroughs will be sufficient to make the leap to the next level of longevity.

How may we add an additional 20 years to our lifespan?  We believe that the answer can be found in practicing optimal nutrition and adding several fundamental lifestyle changes. The foundations are with us today and with dedication our goals may be attained. Learning how to live effectively for optimal longevity without illness is the key to success. Diversity and moderation in life are necessary steps in giving ourselves this opportunity.

There are 8 characteristics of the A.R.T. Lifestyle plan that can create a change in your body's physiology.  These can beneficially modify the actions of your genes.  You receive a set of genes from your father and a set from your mother to form a complete number of 27 chromosomes.  Current scientific research states that you are able to modify the action of your genes by incorporating different facets of an optimal lifestyle.  We believe that the 8 lifestyle actions will send you along the path to vitality and longevity.  They are:

1.  Optimal foods - omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, polyphenols, and low glycemic carbohydrates.

2.  Drinks that enhance - green tea, red wine, cocoa.

3.  Eliminate toxins - cigarette smoking, lead, pesticides, mercury.

4.  Reduce marginal risk exposures - saturated fat, high glucose/fructose foods and drinks.

5.  Physical activity according to your fitness level - get moving! Optimal fitness: short duration, high intensity exercise.

6.  Positive social interactions - family, friends, pets.

7.  Disease prevention - vaccines, annual physical exam.

8.  Cultivate anti-stress conditions - yoga, tai chi, meditation, reiki, chakras, sound sleep.

We call it the "A.R.T. Lifestyle". The Lifestyle plan rests on three pillars of understanding and action. Clearly the fundamentals are straight forward and compliance becomes easier week after week because your body becomes more accustom to the changes you are making.

The A.R.T. Lifestyle plan is comprised of several fundamental principals.

Pillar 1 - ADD (Accelerate) Optimize your nutrition (food/drink/supplements), your physical activity (exercise program), and few associated lifestyle changes.
Pillar II - REDUCE (Eliminate) Take out the toxins from your daily life.
Pillar III - TEST (Monitor) Measure your progress with blood and physical ability tests.

The A.R.T. Lifestyle plan is founded on the premise that a change in your everyday actions will promote changes in you vitality and longevity.  In short, the foundation of the Lifestyle plan is to ADD positive actions to your life, REDUCE negative environmental factors and toxic substances, and TEST your body to determine whether your plan of action is working.
