What is Considered Healthy

We want to focus on foods that protect your cells and repair previous damage.  Free radicals are unstable oxygen molecules that can trigger changes in the structure of your cells. The damage done by free radicals is thought to be an underlying cause of many chronic diseases. Antioxidants protect your body from free radicals by neutralizing them. Antioxidants in food are measured by its capacity to absorb free radicals. The Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC) measures the capacity of a food to absorb free radicals as determined by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Many of the foods we promote might not sound "healthy" because they are not low in calories or low in certain fats. Not every food we endorse is lean and light, but the nutritional value from the antioxidants and vitamins will always outweigh the negative aspect of the calories because we preach moderation in everything you eat. We always look to cut out simple sugars and flours, add monounsaturated fats and omega-3 oils, leave the saturated fats to a minimum and of course add fruits and vegetables frequently.
