Current Age Life Spans
We need to be aware of the longevity potential of humans in recent history. Accurate documentation of birth and death is essential to determine the potential longevity of men and women. There are scientific institutions that provide data on the longest living persons. Supercentenarian Research Foundation focuses on those persons who are at least 110 years old and characterizes their siblings and offsprings. The international data base on longevity at the Max Planck Institute furnishes complete lists of valid supercentenarians in many countries. In the past they have conducted workshops on longevity in several countries.
Currently the longest life span that has been completely documented is that of Jeanne Calment of France who died at age 122 years and 164 days. It is extremely rare that well documented records provide us with persons who exceed 120 years. On the other hand there are a larger number of men and women who have died between 110 and 120 years of age. As of August 29, 2008 there were 68 females and 10 males who lived beyond the age of 110.
